Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies

The Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies (GEIMS) is a premier maritime training institute located in Tungarli, Lonavala, Maharashtra, India. It was established in 2006 by The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., one of India’s largest private shipping companies, with the aim of producing world‑class deck and engine officers for the merchant navy industry. GEIMS offers pre‑sea courses such as Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS), Graduate Marine Engineer (GME), Electro Technical Officer (ETO) and General Purpose Rating (GPR), all approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and affiliated with the Indian Maritime University (IMU).
