ECDIS is run by 3 approved institutes in Chennai region. Two publish fees, Rs 11,500 to Rs 11,900. Next batch 13 October at Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training. AMET City College also runs it with ROC and ARPA together for Rs 28,500.
Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems training covers navigation using electronic charts rather than paper. It teaches chart loading and updating, route planning and monitoring, alarms and safety settings, the limitations and common errors of the system, and the legal position of ECDIS as the primary means of navigation.
