What a Oiler does
The Oiler is an engine-room rating responsible for lubricating machinery, monitoring the running gear, checking levels and temperatures, and assisting the engineers with maintenance during engine-room watches.
Certificates and requirements
- STCW Basic Safety Training
- Engine watch rating certification
- A valid medical certificate and engine-room sea time
- Tanker familiarisation where required
