MFA is run by 7 approved institutes in Kolkata region. Three publish fees, Rs 1,599 to Rs 3,099. Next batch 5 October at Hoon Maritime Institute. MERCANTILE MARINE ACADEMY also runs it with ERS Ops together for Rs 14,000.
Medical First Aid goes beyond elementary care to what a designated crew member must do when there is no doctor aboard. It covers examination of a casualty, spinal injuries, burns and fractures, medical care of rescued persons, and radio medical advice — the procedure for getting a doctor ashore to guide treatment by radio.
Required for officers. Refresh every five years.
