Medical First Aid goes beyond elementary care to what a designated crew member must do when there is no doctor aboard. It covers examination of a casualty, spinal injuries, burns and fractures, medical care of rescued persons, and radio medical advice — the procedure for getting a doctor ashore to guide treatment by radio.
Required for officers. Refresh every five years.
