As a 2nd Engineer on a Bulk Carrier, you run day-to-day machinery operation and maintenance - with the specialised focus that comes with dry bulk cargoes with hold preparation and loading-sequence planning. Owners running bulk carriers prefer officers who already know the ship type and hold the right endorsements, so vessel-specific experience is a real advantage.
What you need
A valid MEO Class 1 or 2 Certificate of Competency, a full current STCW suite, and standard STCW with strong cargo-hold competence. A valid medical certificate and relevant sea time complete the picture.
