The role on a Container Ship
As a 2nd Engineer on a Container Ship, you run day-to-day machinery operation and maintenance - with the specialised focus that comes with containerised cargo with fast turnarounds, lashing and reefer monitoring. Owners running container ships prefer officers who already know the ship type and hold the right endorsements, so vessel-specific experience is a real advantage.
What you need
A valid MEO Class 1 or 2 Certificate of Competency, a full current STCW suite, and standard STCW; lashing and reefer experience valued. A valid medical certificate and relevant sea time complete the picture.
