The role on a LNG Carrier
As a 2nd Engineer on a LNG Carrier, you run day-to-day machinery operation and maintenance - with the specialised focus that comes with liquefied natural gas at cryogenic temperature with advanced containment and often dual-fuel propulsion. Owners running lng carriers prefer officers who already know the ship type and hold the right endorsements, so vessel-specific experience is a real advantage.
What you need
A valid MEO Class 1 or 2 Certificate of Competency, a full current STCW suite, and Advanced Gas Tanker Cargo Operations, plus high-voltage or dual-fuel training where required. A valid medical certificate and relevant sea time complete the picture.
